Gary McKinnon
British systems administrator · unauthorized access in 2001–2002 · UAP-related self-reports
Gary McKinnon is a British systems administrator whom the United States indicted in 2002 for alleged unauthorized access to and damage of military, DoD, NASA, and private computers. The DOJ documents a 17-month investigation involving, among others, NASA’s Office of Inspector General. McKinnon publicly acknowledged unauthorized access; the indictment and access context must be separated from his broader UAP accounts. In a 2005 Guardian interview, McKinnon claimed that, in a U.S. Space Command context, he saw a list titled “Non-Terrestrial Officers” and transfer lists. He said the label did not necessarily mean extraterrestrials but, in his interpretation, might indicate something not Earth-based; he could no longer name specific vessels. No screenshot, forensic image, server log, inventory, or independent NASA/DoD confirmation of these claims has been publicly released. The 2026 Facebook reel repeating the Project Serpo story about twelve people on another planet is not independent corroboration. In 2012, the UK Home Secretary withdrew the extradition order because of a very high suicide risk. The statement mentions Asperger’s syndrome and depressive illness only as part of that risk assessment; it does not make McKinnon’s memories or claims especially reliable or unreliable.
