Robert Emenegger is an American documentary filmmaker and advertising producer who worked as Creative Director at the Gray Advertising Company – an agency with connections to the Nixon administration (Nixon personally asked Emenegger for recommendations for his team). In 1972, he and his partner Allan Sandler received the extraordinary offer from the Pentagon to use real, classified 16mm film footage of a UAP landing at Holloman Air Force Base (1964) for a documentary film. The Pentagon cooperated fully: meetings without registration (plausible deniability), Col. William Coleman approved the use, and the Air Force was to sponsor the film. Shortly before completion, the footage was confiscated – officially due to the Watergate climate. Emenegger replaced it with animated sequences. His documentary 'UFOs: Past, Present, and Future' (1974, re-released in 1979 as 'UFOs: It Has Begun') was nominated for a Golden Globe and features appearances by J. Allen Hynek, Jacques Vallée, Robert Friend, and Col. Coleman. In 1988, Emenegger publicly confirmed on television (UFO Cover-Up? Live!): the footage was real, and he lost the entire finale of his film due to the confiscation.
