Dr. Steven Macon Greer (* 1955, Charlotte, North Carolina) is an American ufologist and retired emergency physician. He founded the Center for the Study of Extraterrestrial Intelligence (CSETI) in 1990 and the Disclosure Project in 1993, which brought together more than 500 government officials, military personnel, and intelligence officers for UAP witness testimonies. His CE5 protocol (Close Encounters of the Fifth Kind) describes a method for human-initiated, peaceful contact with extraterrestrial intelligences through meditation and consciousness expansion. Greer is one of the most well-known and controversial figures in UAP research: supporters see him as a pioneer of the disclosure movement, critics accuse him of self-promotion and unverifiable claims.
