Frank Borman
NASA Astronaut · Apollo 8 Commander · Gemini 7 Pilot
Col. Frank Borman (USAF, ret.) was Commander of the Apollo 8 mission (1968) — the first crewed lunar orbit — and pilot of Gemini 7 (1965). During Gemini 7 he reported, together with James Lovell, a 'bogey' in close orbital proximity. Officially explained as a rocket booster, the crew insisted on a distinction.
