Meng Zhaoguo Incident — China's Most Famous Close-Encounter Case (Heilongjiang, June 1994)

📅 1994-06-01
· 📍 Phoenix Mountain (Fenghuang Shan), Wuchang, Heilongjiang
In June 1994, Meng Zhaoguo (孟照国), a 26-year-old lumberjack from Wuchang, Heilongjiang, experienced China's most famous and most thoroughly investigated UFO contact case. The incident began when Meng and his nephew's brother-in-law saw a shimmering object on the slope of Fenghuang Mountain (Phoenix Mountain) and assumed it was a crashed helicopter.
FIRST ENCOUNTER: As they approached to approximately 150 meters, an electric shock passed through them like an invisible barrier. A beam of light struck Meng on the forehead and he lost consciousness. At a subsequent doctor's visit: everything metallic triggered renewed electric shocks. The object: a large oval spacecraft with a long tail, completely smooth, no discernible doors.
SECOND ENCOUNTER (days later): Meng awoke floating above his bed while his wife and child slept. A female entity — approximately 3 meters tall, 6 fingers, thighs covered with braided hair — appeared through the wall. Sexual contact. Meng in 2021: 'I was experimented on — it lasted only 3–4 seconds.'
THIRD ENCOUNTER (spacecraft): Meng awoke aboard the spacecraft. Entities in black seamless cloaks spoke broken Chinese. When asked about their mission: 'We are fleeing from danger and observing you and your planet.' They showed him via a screen a comet striking Jupiter — this actually occurred on July 17, 1994 (Comet Shoemaker-Levy 9). How could an uneducated farmer have known this?
PHYSICAL EVIDENCE:
• Burned trees and split rocks at the alleged landing site (Wang Fangchen, first chairman of the Beijing UFO Research Organization, personally confirmed)
• A geiger counter belonging to a scientist from the Chinese Academy of Sciences went haywire at Meng's house wall: 'I saw that with my own eyes — I cannot explain it'
• Scar on his leg (possible implant)
• 2016: Entities visited him again and gave him a piece of the Jupiter comet — analysis revealed the rare metal terbium
LIE DETECTOR: 2003 polygraph test conducted under the supervision of local police — passed (China Daily 2010). Meng has never changed his story in 30 years.
INVESTIGATIONS: Wuhan University UFO Enthusiasts Club (1997): initial contact possibly real, follow-up reports likely false. Beijing UFO Research Organization: on-site investigation confirmed physical traces. Zhou Xiaoqiang (former secretary of the Beijing UFO Research Org): 'Meng has no credibility — local leaders said he was crazy.'
CULTURAL SIGNIFICANCE: Phoenix Mountain became a pilgrimage site for UFO enthusiasts. Further sightings there in 2005 and 2012 (on video). Meng works today in the canteen of Harbin University of Commerce. Message from the entities: 'Protect your planet — ours was destroyed.' The South China Morning Post counted 5,000 UFO reports in China in the 10 years leading up to 1995.
