14 September 2020: Defense Minister Taro Kono issues official UAP protocol for Japanese Self-Defense Forces. Trigger: Pentagon release of the three Navy UAP videos April 2020 and conversation Kono/Esper in Guam on UAP cooperation. PROTOCOL: Upon UAP encounter, stop training immediately. Identification from safe distance. Report to Air Defense Direction Center. ASDF fighter jets from 7 bases authorized for scrambles. Kono: Frankly, I don't believe in UFOs — but because the Pentagon has released this video I would like to speak with the United States. 2023: 80 Japanese parliamentarians (3 former Defense Ministers) founded a UAP study group.
