Gene Cernan
NASA Astronaut · Apollo 17 Commander · Last Man on the Moon
Capt. Eugene 'Gene' Cernan (USN) was Commander of the Apollo 17 mission (December 1972) and thus the last person to walk on the Moon. Cernan was one of the most outspoken NASA astronauts: 'I believe that UFOs are a real phenomenon.' Together with Harrison Schmitt, he documented a sighting during the lunar orbital phase.
