Dr. Edgar Mitchell

Edgar Dean Mitchell (1930–2016) was a NASA astronaut, Rear Admiral in the US Navy, and the 6th person to walk on the Moon (Apollo 14, February 9, 1971). Together with Alan Shepard, he holds the record for the longest moonwalk (9 hours). Mitchell held two bachelor's degrees and a doctorate in aeronautics from MIT. In 1973 he founded the Institute of Noetic Sciences (IONS). He was one of the few NASA astronauts to speak publicly about UFOs and government cover-ups. In a live interview in 2008, he stated that he had received intelligence information about extraterrestrial visitors and confirmed Roswell as a real event. NASA officially distanced itself from his statements.
