Mt. Etna Object — Sicily 2018

A SWIR camera aboard a US military UAS near NAS Sigonella recorded 12 minutes of IR video of an Etna eruption. For approximately 4.5 minutes, a round object appears that seems to move at high speed through the ash cloud. AARO assessment: optical artifact caused by thermal radiation from the eruption.
